December Athlete of the Month!

Hometown: Kennewick, Washington

Age: 23

When did you first start training at FOCF?:  February 2013

Favorite WOD: Anything that involves some sort of running

Least Favorite WOD: Diane or Fran

Tell us about you sports & fitness background: I’ve been involved in sports since I was little. I started playing competitive soccer at the age of 5 and continued playing club soccer over the years. My competitive edge led me to play collegiate soccer at Eastern Washington University. And when I’m not playing soccer I’m normally running a few miles.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? I was going to join a gym, but my boss Jennifer Ollero told me about crossfit and how great it was and ever since I’ve been hooked.

Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? My first WOD was on a Saturday in February and I came with Jennifer and Leah and it was a partner WOD. The WOD consisted of burpees, wallballs and hangs. I was a nervous at first, but once I got started I knew I could get through it. The WOD went so well that I ended up joining that Saturday.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)?

Crossfit has gotten me into great shape and I have become stronger the different lifts and continue to see improvements in every WOD I do.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?

Everyone at Crossfit is very positive and once everyone to improve. I have met a lot of great people since I joined Crossfit as well.

Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / FOCF moments:

One of my favorite Crossfit moments was a few weeks ago when I finally did a pull-up without a band.

Any advice for people just getting started?

You just got to suffer through the soreness at first and you’ll eventually get hooked and won’t be able to live without crossfit.

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?

I love to hang out with my friends and family, playing soccer, running, boating, and shopping.
