CrossFit Games 2011

It’s that time a year again. Time to start thinking about the 2011 CrossFit Games! While this year is going to be different then last year, I still expect to see great athletes performing unbelievably in the events. This year there will be no sectionals like last year. While this is a major disappointment to many, myself included, it is argued that it will open the event up to more people and make the pool of athletes more competitive. And give CrossFit a whole heck of alot of video footage to do what ever they want with as far as marketing. But first they have to get through all that video and analyze it. The sectionals will work like this based on information they have released thus far, you will have 2 options: video submission of weekly qualifying WODs or complete the WOD at a registered affiliate. What a registered affiliate is to be named. For Individual Competitors, the Open Sectionals will begin in early March and go through mid April. The total purse this year is going to be $1 million with $250,000 going to the men’s & women’s winners and will be crowned the Fittest Man and Woman on Earth! Teams will compete at Regionals, but they will need to qualify through the Opens as individuals. Approximately 50 men, 50 women, 50 teams, and 20 Masters for each division will qualify for the Games and the opportunity to compete. The games will be held again at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Ca July 29th-31st. Tickets for the event go on sale Feb 1st. As we get closer more information will be release by CrossFit.
