Sports and fitness background: In high school I ran varsity cross country and lettered in golf.
First Exposed: I was watching The Biggest Loser, and Bob Harper had his contestants doing Crossfit workouts, it looked fun so I gave it a go!
First WOD: My first WOD was “Nasty Girls.” Instead of the muscle ups, I did 14 dips. I remember I was not even half way done with the workout and I was in a world of hurt. It really hit me how out of shape I was. But I pushed through and finished, and that part felt great!
Changes in Body: Physically I have gotten a lot stronger. My endurance has increased the most and I have been actually putting on weight (slowly but surely)!
Changes in life: Honestly, I see everything differently since starting Crossfit. I always give 100% of my energy in everything I do, whether it be in school or work, which is something I never used to do. Crossfit demands 100% of your energy every time, which carried over into my daily life.
Favorite FOCF Moments: One of my favorite moments at FOCF is meeting all the great people. Everyone is so nice and encouraging. It’s like having a mini family who all happen to workout together. I don’t think there is any other gym that has such a close community, I love it.
Advice: Don’t give up. Don’t get discouraged. Do what you can do at your own pace. Crossfit is all about becoming a better, healthier version of yourself. In time the strength, and endurance will come.
Hobbies: I thoroughly enjoy running, and taking long walks on the beach.
