ATHLETE PROFILE: Travis Yeates

 

Hometown: Quincy, WA

Age: 30

When did you first start training at FOCF?: August 2011

Favorite WOD: Angie

Least Favorite WOD: Anything involving me to run!

 

Tell us about your sports & fitness background: Have been working out in some fashion since I was a young buck.

 

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? My buddy Ryan Andrews who looks like Brad Pitt’s twin on steriods advised me to give it a try. It has been really great so far!

 

Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? Don not remember the first WOD, but the baseline made me really dizzy. Glad I came back for the first WOD though.

 

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)? I sleep like a baby, I have more energy, I’m losing some lbs and it just has improved my overall life!

 

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected? Never thought I would do a berpee. Never even heard of one. It has made me push myself pretty damn far, and I would not have been able to do that with the help of FOCF coaches and fellow FOCFers 🙂

 

Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / FOCF moments: Just that I’m doing it, and seeing myself and others improve themselves. The Christmas party was great also!

 

Any advice for people just getting started? It is hard at first with all the new movements, flexablity, etc and the fact that you will have to push yourself harder than normal. When you feel and see improvement in yourself and others it is very worthwhile. If you give CrossFit a chance, youn will be glad you did.

 

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit? I like to be around friends and family when I can, and just getting out being active and trying new things.
